Skinnies and flares: dress them up, dress them down!

A huge thank you to Walmart for sponsoring this post! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Every month gets better and better with these Walmart finds. They are making it so easy to stay on top of trends on a budget, check out the October edit for a hit list of what is trending!

There are so many good brands at Walmart.com, this blog post alone has stuff from Time and Tru, Melrose Ave., L.N.V., Signature by Levi Strauss & Co., and the new Scoop line. I’m also always checking out the Sofia Vergara collection and the EV1 line by Ellen DegeneresLove Sadie for flirty and feminine pieces, Danskin for active wear, Dreamers by Debut for amazing sweaters, Brinley Co. for shoes, and the Secret Treasure’s sleepwear line has the cutest stuff I wear to bed AND out and about! The online ordering process is SO easy, a ton of stuff is eligible for free next day delivery on orders of $35+ and whenever I have an item I need to return it is a breeze to do in store.

FLARES: DRESSED DOWN

I am SO HERE for the return of the flare. It feels good to have a different style other than skinnies in my closet, and flares make your legs look so long! I have found that at 5’6″ I like to buy longs in flares, it typically gives me the perfect length to wear with a modest heel. I’ve worn this pair over and over again this month with heeled booties and here with an elevated sneaker! Every single part of this outfit is a fav for me. From the swing jacket, to the most amazing non-sheer white tee, perfect flare jeans and the fun, on-trend sneakers!

FLARES: DRESSED UP

Maybe it’s because I’ve only been wearing skinny jeans for years but it was a little bit of a learning curve to get the top proportions with flares right. There are exceptions to every rule, but in general I like to go more fitted and not too long with my top when wearing flares (as opposed to the oversized tunics I love to wear with skinnies this time of year!). This top is perfect, it has a teeny little peplum but not too much, the length is spot on, and I will always and forever love any floral with a black background. I have a bit of a leopard shoe problem and these booties are one of my favs – I love the stacked heel, pointed toe, and the shaft height is perfect for wearing with skinny jeans (which are still a very big part of my wardrobe, haha).

SKINNIES: DRESSED DOWN

I’ve had these jeans for about a year and they are SO comfortable. High-rise, stretchy, and they don’t bag out and lose their shape. I do have to size up to a 12 in them, so size up if you grab them! I also tried and LOVED a new pair of sculpted jeggings from Time & Tru, they definitely had more tummy slimming power than my pair but overall they felt like too much of a duplicate with the same wash and high rise so I didn’t keep them, but if I were you I’d grab the sculpting ones (also size up in those). Same jacket and shoes as the dressed down with flares outfit, but a different tee. I live in the desert so this cactus tee spoke to me! Love the length and fit of it (I sized up to a large).

SKINNIES: DRESSED UP

This is the kind of basic outfit I ADORE. It’s classy and put together, it’s insanely comfortable, and I can dress it up or down as much as I want with accessories. This sweater is super versatile – from skinny jeans and leggings, to pencil skirts, over dresses, even knotted! Sizing note on the shoes: I originally got them in my normal size and they were a smidge too big which made them hard to walk in. I reordered a 1/2 size down and they’re perfect!

If you haven’t checked out the online selection at clothes at Walmart, do it! There is SO much goodness to be found!
